Even if you're not crazy about golf, today's playoff was exciting.
Tiger won - again - (despite post-operative knee pain) - against strong competitor, Rocco, age 45. There were more than 24,000 golf fans attending. Some showed up at 6 a.m. to secure a best viewing location. When Tiger finally won, his wife and his one year old daughter were there to congratulate him. While golf is just another competitive sport, it is, in my book, the least violent of them all. More than once, this event's broadcasters mentioned that Tiger and Rocco are best friends.
She'd always been active - out and about; but at age 93 found herself unable physically to keep up her usual pace. Impatient with her limits, she kept friends and family busy responding to her complaints. We all were convinced it would take every ounce of innovation to break her boredom. Still, one Spring day I took her a single wild rose bud and suggested she keep an eye on it. She just might see it open to full bloom. Checking in on her a couple of days later, I found her cheery and uncomplaining as she described how she watched the bud slowly open - fully - to fragrant blossom. At least for a couple of days, it held her interest & attention. One never knows what might help. Sometimes it doesn't take much.
