 YOU NEVER KNOW -

...what you'll find washed-up on a beach.
Around here it's forged iron parts from an old sunken scow, to bits of broken antique crockery and glass, driftwood with nail holes, old bricks. I once found an antique pipe stem.
While remnants of an earlier populace can be found, they're far outnumbered by the usual things found and enjoyed at the beach - sand, colorful rocks, driftwood, tall grasses, etc.,.
Then, there's the third element - stuff that senseless people toss carelessly from boats or from shore - cans, cigarette butts, unmentionables, etc.,.
Thankfully, it's not so much that one can't pick it all up during a day's beach walk.
(I take a trash collection bag.)

CHOCOLATE CAKE IN 10 MINUTES - OR LESS !

It's baked in a microwave in about 3 minutes. It depends on your microwave's power. ...possibly 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 minutes.
Prep time is quick, too.
Here's the simple recipe. (I made it this a.m. - turned out great.)
3 tbs melted butter or olive oil
1/4 cup white sugar (I substituted honey)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (I used ww organic flour)
2 or 3 tbs cocoa powder
1/4 teas. baking powder
1 pinch salt
Whisk wet ingredients.
Add and mix in dry ingredients.
Pour into greased microwave baking dish.
Cover baking dish.
Pop into microwave.
Cook on HI 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, turning dish 1/4 every minute.
Cake's done when it springs back when touched.
Remove and let cool five minutes before serving.
Optional: Frost or serve with ice cream and chocolate syrup.
It's good with fresh berries, too.

HMMM... WHAT'S SO FUNNY ABOUT THAT ?

Understanding jokes decreases with age for some folks age 65 and older, according to a study published in the International Neurological Journal.
Using a test created in 1983, researchers at Washington U. in St. Louis, Mo, found that students fared better than the over 65 group.
Neurologists believe this happens because cognitive ability - for some individuals - declines as they grows older.
