There's no police force in our tiny town. We don't need one, although State Police can show up at a moments notice when the city summer folks show up and one or two of them cause trouble.
It's a lot like family here, with perhaps the usual small squabbles; but for the most part, it's a peaceful place.
Personally, I think the whole world could be like this.
It's a matter of helping each other when there's a need, then, for the rest of the time, leaving each to his own way of life and enjoying various activities.
During the past week, many were confined to their homes, thanks to constant blizzard with below freezing temps, which continue today.
Anyway, it was impossible for me to remove more than a foot of snow from the top of my car and venture out to pick up the monthly supply of meds. I was down to enough for one day. Fortunately, I have only one prescription, and, it's a 'must'.
So I called the store/gas station where the prescription's available and asked for delivery.
"No problem," they said. "We'll be there by 2."
Great! So, to have a treat ready when they arrived, I packaged some freshly baked cranberry/banana bread to give them.
They were pleased, of course but reminded me, as they have many times before, that they were happy to deliver anytime.
There's nothing unusual about this.
...stuff like this goes on all the time in small town.
