It could happen only in a small town when serious snow begins to fall.
Thinking I'd better get in supplies before weather worsened, I brushed snow off car windows and took off for downtown to pick up milk, coffee, and a bottle of wine - a half mile trip.
I parked in front of the grocery. Already the short walk to door from car was slippery snowy. Managed to enter without tumbling.
As I left, the cashier was telling a young clerk to spread salt at the entrance door.
Then I gave him another request: "How about sprinkling some of that salt all the way to my car?"
Though coatless, he pleasantly obliged.
A strong north wind blew salt in my face as I followed him, but I could care less. I just turned my head; put a scarf over nose, followed the safe salted trail without falling on my tail, and thanked the kid for a good job.

My faith in the business world was renewed today after an encounter with a young and unusual young woman.
There were papers to sign, but before doing so, I wanted to make sure that I knew what I was signing. Yes, I read each of the many pages in detail, asking questions of the young business woman as we went along.
Surprisingly she fully answered each one honestly with no hedging.
When it was all over, she said, "You know, I'll never make it to the top in business, but for me, it's important to put myself in the place of the customer."
I looked her squarely in the eye and said, "You may be surprised, my dear; in addition to the personal satisfaction of doing the right thing, you may one day become the head honcho!!!
